About Jon

Jon Griffin is a creative director, producer, musician, and communications strategist whose work has always lived somewhere between ideas, technology, storytelling, and sound.

For more than 30 years, Jon has worked across music, film, television, radio, design, branded content, and emerging media – sometimes directing the big picture, sometimes obsessing over the smallest detail, and very often doing both.

He founded Lunazen as a place where those disciplines could overlap.

Over the years, Jon has produced and engineered records, composed music, designed sound, directed and edited video, developed creative concepts, built brands and campaigns, produced live and recorded media, and helped artists, filmmakers, organizations, and companies figure out what they’re actually trying to say – and how to make people care about it.

His work has included independent artists and major entertainment companies, films and television, commercial and corporate media, live music, documentary and interview production, post-production, communications strategy, and projects that don’t fit particularly well into any one category.

That’s intentional.

Jon’s approach starts with the idea rather than the medium. What is the story? What should this feel like? What does the audience need to understand? And what combination of image, sound, language, music, design, and technology will communicate it best?

Music remains the through-line. Jon began recording sound as a kid, studied music and philosophy at USC, and has spent much of his life making, recording, producing, and thinking about music. Today he continues to produce and engineer artists and live sessions while bringing that same sense of rhythm, listening, and storytelling to work far beyond the studio.

After many years in Los Angeles, Jon now lives and works in Ashland, Oregon, collaborating with people and organizations locally and far beyond.

Lunazen is where all of those things meet.
